The main responsibilities of the OpenWMS.org Inventory Service are as follows:

• Allocation. The Allocation strategy chooses available PackagingUnit of Product according to the demanded amount. Usually this is used to fulfill order positions. An order position may be divided into multiple splits. Each split corresponds to an allocation unit and triggers a transport order to actually get the items out of stock.
